Week 2 Paper Piecings by Nikki

Nikki over at Paper Piecings by Nikki is having another challenge and an AWESOME GIVEAWAY!!  Seriously, you have to go check it out - so generous!! This time you have to create a scrapbook layout, card or tag using her Very Beary Christmas pattern set or Baking Memories set.  I decided to go with a scrapbook layout.
I printed the bears at 4 x 4 and used my cricut cartridge for the large tags.  The title is a freebie on Nikki's site and it fit this layout beautifully.  This layout is of my niece when her husband asked her to marry him last Christmas.  I was so lucky to be part of that moment.

If you have not seen or used Nikki's designs, I would say you are definately missing out - she is coming out with a lot of new things - I know she is working on some penquins - definately a MUST see.  Stop by her site, at www.paperpiecingsbyNikki.com - yo will be glad you did.

CWC Challenge #64 Holiday cards, gift and tags

Happy Wednesday everyone!  This week's challenge on Cooking with Cricut is to make a holiday card, gift or tag focusing on the quick easy last minute type of ideas.  Well I can tell you that my card fits this catagory because I forgot about this deadline and I was able to complete it in less than half an hour.  I liked it so much I just finished making 10 of them!
I used the free image that CWC had this week and I just cut out "Family" with the Heritage cricut cartridge at 1".  I plan on making more and change the words to Friends and cousins.

Hope you like it.

Paper Piecings by Nikki !

Hi Everyone.  I wanted to share a card that I made using digital images from Paper Piecings by Nikki.  She is a new digital artist that has really cute images and cutting files.  For right now, I am using her digital images until I get my sillouette - when I do, I am going to using ALL cutting files.  I can't get enough of them.

For this card I used her "Very Beary Christmas" set.  It comes in black and white and colored images.

I colored mine in with my colored pencils and for the snowflakes I used Martha Stewarts fine glitter.  I wanted the ear muffs to be puffy and the closest thing I could find was puffy white paint from Tulip.  The Christmas tree was cut out with my Winter Frolic cartridge and I used stickles for the ornaments.  The snowflake paper came from a DCWV Ultimate Premium pack.  For the greeting, I just printed it on my computer and attatched it to the front of this side step card.  I hope you like it and will go to
Nikki's store and check out her awesome designs.

Check out Nikki's Blog and enter her challenge, you have a chance to win an awesome giveaway!

25 Days of Christmas with Cooking with Cricut Day 11

Happy Sunday everyone!  How is everyone doing on their Christmas shopping?  I just went yesterday and only put a small dent in my list - but...it is a start.  This project I made is actually going to be part of a Christmas gift for my sister.  It is a scrapbook layout of her daughters (my awesome niece) wedding.
I used the Flower Shoppe cricut cartridge for the flowers, cut them at 2 1/2" and 3".  Placed them on a strip of black cardstock that I punched with a Martha Stewarts doily punch.  For the stamped wording, I used K. Andrews "Winged Things" stamp set.  If you have not seen or heard of her stamps, you are missing out on some awesome stamps.  You can see all her stamps HERE.  Kristal always donates a $1 from every stamp set to charity.

My sister doesn't always have the time to sit and make scrapbook layouts, so I like to take pictures throughout the year and surprise her with layouts at Christmas time.  She loves it. :)
Hope you enjoyed my layout.

Christmas Cards and Cookie Blog Hop

Welcome to Round Two of the Christmas Cards & Cookies Blog Hop! You should have come from Jearise blog. If you are starting here and wish to hop from the beginning of the hop, please visit Dena’s blog. There was so much response to the Christmas Cards & Cookies Blog Hop that it had to be split between two weekends. Round One was held last weekend. Round Two is this weekend, beginning on Saturday, Dec. 10th, through Sunday, Dec. 11th. We have a talented group of women who love papercrafting and baking. Each of them is sharing a recipe for a yummy Christmas treat along with a Christmas card or tag. Hopefully, you’ll pick up some great ideas for your own Christmas gift giving this season. So, grab a cup of coffee, sit back, and enjoy!

For my project I made a family favorite called Dream Cookies.  I remember my mom making a double batch of these cookies and before we could eat them all, she would put them in a container and freeze them.  Little did she realize that we knew they were in the freezer downstairs and all four of us children would go down and have a snack every now and then.  I can still remember unhappy she was when she went to pull them out of the freezer when we had guests, only to find an empty container still in the freezer.  LOL

I am going to bring these on my shopping trip tomorrow with my sisters so we can remember holidays past and remember my mom.  I made a card with the recipe inside, so I can pass this recipe down to my niece whom will be joining us on our shopping trip.

For the sentiment on the front of the card, I used K. Andrews stamp set called "Winged Things".  It is an awesome mix and match set.  If you would like to see more of her stamps you can visit her page HERE
I hope you try this recipe, it is quick and easy to make - much like a shortbread.

Please scroll down to see "Secret Santa Blog Hop"

Welcome to another Christmas paper piecing with Nikki. I hope you all had a chance to see the wonderful projects everyone made yesterday.  They were truly an inspiration to me.  I want to thank Nikki for inviting me on such a fun hop this weekend.  I have really enjoyed myself.  Don't forget to check out Nikki's blog and see all the wonderful digital images and cutting files she has, they are simply adorable!

Today I used a digital image from Digital Delights.
This is Pickles the Penquin - isn't he just stinkin cute??  I colored him in with my colored pencils and cut him out.  For the background paper I used DCWV Ulitimate paper pack and then I just tore some white cardstock for the bottom of the card.  I used crystal stickles for his hat and for the top of the snowbanks.  Hope you like him as much as I do.

Your next stop is my wonderful talented sister Patti

For my project today, I decided to make a gift and recylce at the same time.  I used a plastic container that cherry tomatoes came in, placed 4 votive candles in it and surrounded them with basket filler.
On the inside of the lid, I placed a small white piece of cardstock so it looks like it is matted in red like the outer lid.  Tied a red poka dotted ribbon around the outside and tied a bow in the front.  The little reindeer came from Create a Critter cricut cartridge.

The sentiment on the top of the container is from K. Andrews "Fashionable Friends" Stamp set.

K. Andrews stamps are awesome, they stamp clear and they cling beautifully to your acrylic blocks.
Kristal also donates $1 from the sale of every stamp set sold to charity !

Christmas Paper Piecing Blog Hop

Welcome to the VERY first Paper Piecing blog hop by Nikki.  Nikki is a talented artist that creates cutting file and digital stamps.  Along with this being her first blog hop to show off some of her awesome designs, it is also a design team call!  I am hoping to be selected, because I have a silouette cameo on my Christmas list and I would LOVE to use some of her cutting files :).

For my project I decided to use one of her digital stamps of a reindeer.  I fell in love with him and his crooked little smile.
I thought he looked a little love struck, so I used a sentiment from Pink by Design stamp set called "To the Moon".  It says "Nothing prepared me for your smile."

I used Martha Stewarts branch border punch and matted it on some maroon cardstock, to give it a holiday feel.

Hope you like it.  Please stop by Nikki's Blog and check out her designs.

Your next stop is my very talented sister, Patti.

Girlie Girl Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Girlie-Girl Blog Hop, where all things girlie girl will be seen. Each person has their own interpretation of what girlie girl means so this hop should be fun.

Lorby's World is our hostess for this hop so please begin the hop at her blog: http://lorbysworld.blogspot.com/ and continue through from there.

Lorby will be giving away a $10 gift card to winner's choice of Michael's or Joann's. Rules to be in the drawing: 1. Comment on all the blogs. (These ladies have put a lot of time and effort into their projects so show them the love.) 2. Become a follower on Lorby's World blog.

For my project I decided to go with a cute little fairy.  This fairy was a free digi from Cuddlybuddly and I fell in love with her.
I colored her in with my colored pencils and then used Crystal Stickles on her collar, dress hem and her little tiara to give her a little bit of sparkle.

The sentiment is from K. Andrews "Winged Things" stamp set.  This is a great stamp set because it lets you mix and match your sayings.  This sentiment used three stamps!  You can check out her awesome stamps HERE.  Kristal also donates $1 to a charity for each stamp set you purchase - how awesome is that?

Your next stop is Gina.  She has a super project waiting for you :)
